Land Resource Inventories

An evaluation of the suitability of land for alternative kinds of use can be helped by conducting a Land Use Inventory. These inventories are a type of survey that defines and maps land units and combines them together with descriptive data of land characteristics and resources.

We can help you to work through these Inventories by helping you to decide:

  • What or which data is required?
  • Why is this data needed?
  • Where or how can it be collected?
  • Is the cost of their collection worthwhile?

There are 9 basic categories of information that can recompiled for use in a Land Resource Inventory:

  1. General characterization of the project area
  2. Topographic data
  3. Soil survey data
  4. Climatic and meteorological data
  5. Water resources data
  6. Drainage data
  7. Present land use, vegetation and wildlife
  8. Environmental health
  9. Social and economic data

Each section is able to be completed independently by our experts according to your needs.

Environmental Site Assessments, Phase 1 (ESA's)

Under the Environmental Assessment Act, the Ministry of the Environment’s “environmental assessment (EA)” program “promotes good environmental planning by determining and managing the potential effects of a project prior to implementation”. This program attempts to ensures that public concerns are heard and “balances economic, social, cultural and natural environmental needs so that projects benefit Ontario”.

Green Feet is qualified to conduct these necessary assessments. With a diversity of knowledge to pull from, Greenfeet is able to complete a thorough ESA quickly and economically according to necessary requirements for small scale projects ( <$500,000 budget).

Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA's)

An  Environmental Impact Assesment (EIA) is an assessment of the possible impacts that a proposed project may have on the environment, consisting of the environmental, social and economic aspects.

The purpose of the assessment is to make sure that decision makers consider the environmental impacts when deciding whether or not to proceed with a project. The International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) defines an environmental impact assessment as “the process of identifying, predicting, evaluating and mitigating the biophysical, social, and other relevant effects of development proposals prior to major decisions being taken and commitments made.”
